Setup guide

Self-Hosted

Self-hosted means the server is a computer you own, in a room you control, running our software under your license. Nothing about your screens depends on us staying in business. Budget an afternoon for a single network and a day for a large property.

Which setup are you?

Answer one question: can every screen reach every other screen’s network?

  • Yes, it’s all one network (one building, one router, maybe a few switches) → 1 · Single Network
  • No, the property has separate networks (guest Wi-Fi, office LAN, a clubhouse on its own ISP line, a maintenance shed on a point-to-point link) → 2 · Large Property (Glen Eden)
  • The screens are at different addresses entirely (two or more properties, each with its own internet) → 3 · Multiple Properties

If you’re unsure, plan for the larger setup. A server built for many networks also works on one; the reverse needs rework.

Work through it in this order

  1. Read your setup page (1, 2 or 3) and sketch your own network the same way.
  2. Pick how players will reach the server: 4 · Domain & Remote Access
  3. Build the server: 5 · Build the Server
  4. Build one player and pair it before building the rest: 6 · Build the Players
  5. Tick every box in 7 · Security Checklist before the screens go live.
  6. Keep 8 · Troubleshooting handy.

What you’ll need before you start

  • One retired PC for the server and one per screen (minimums in guides 5 and 6)
  • Admin access to the router or firewall in the network room
  • For setups 2 and 3: access to your domain’s DNS settings, and either a static public IP from your ISP or a free Cloudflare account
  • A USB stick of 8 GB or more for the installers
  • Your Reboot Signage license key (the 30-day evaluation runs without one)
